| SO BEHIND ON HOMEWORK
Alexis Rockman - is a natural history painter, a strong environmentalist. But their dynamism is amazing. Their current work is gorgeous-the weather paintings in particular, using the natural energy of the materials to emulate clouds and storms, I think are brilliant. Not afraid to break from naturalism into fantastic morphing to make a point as well. Their website offers an old enough retrospective to show how the artist has changed and developed, which I always find insightful. It's all about the messy emergence of life. <3 <3 <3
Dracorex and Stygimoloch described as juvenile Pachycephalosaurs - d'oh! Cretaceous ornithopods had very plastic facial bones, good lord.
Cell Size and Scale - very insightful!
Supervision - RAINBOW HAIR
Christian Macnevin - Digital fantasy artist du jour.
Fabio Viale - Illusions of materials -marble like styrofoam! Man think about how many formalists he makes angry, hrrrr.
Sphinx Moths - They're so strangly designed! Especially the tersa sphinx. It's like a graphic designer made them.
Guyver suit man - guyver suit man!
Sculptures made of tires - check out that shark! Tires give a really great quality to animal subjects.
Rob Tarbell - Painting with smoke.
Stephanie Brown - Animal meat paintings.
Artie Vierkant - Digital artist. Like, using browser windows as art. Manipulating people through systems. Playing all episodes of Star Trek at once. I can't really summarize. | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
| SF0 is a real-world gaming system.
You're tasked with engaging things to do ( create a fake artifact, talk to a telemarketer, explore a tower, document plant motion). Document it creatively, share publicly, and then enjoy other people's adventures. Play with or against people. Level up, accessing new tasks, intentionally or accidentally playing through different psychological constructs.
Originating in San Francisco, it can be done anywhere, with group games popping up all over for larger events.
